A very good result as we had lost to Penarth 2 or 3 years earlier at home. The ladies, Heather Forrest and Mary Brain won their doubles very convincingly, 6-2 6-2, the experience of Heather and the power of Mary was too much for Penarth. The ease in which they won was probably helped by the fact that Penarth's stronger lady broke her strings ( after 15 years! ) and didn't have a spare racket.
Ladies you should change your strings in your racket at least once a year.
The men, Martin ( 1 stone lighter ) Bowditch and Peter Kirk won their doubles 5-7 7-5 6-3. For the first 2 sets we were always behind, 1 set down and 4-2 and then 5-3 down but we didn't give up, we stuck at it and won the next 4 games to take the set. The third set went with serve except for 1 break which was enough to win the 2 hour rubber and the match. In the next round we will meet David Lloyd Cardiff at home.
Well played the team and a big thanks to Martin for driving.
